Oakley Radar Sunglasses Review

by "The Average Guy"

Radar Love

As far as I know, I am one of the few regular people to already have a pair of Oakley Radars. I have been wearing them for the last 2 weeks and all I can say is that there are the ultimate cycling glasses! Oakley has got everything right with these shades. They come with a hard case, and one of the Plutonite ® lens cleaning bags. The hard case features a slot into which Oakley has thoughtfully placed a spare nose piece. The funny thing is that with the new glasses, it would be quite difficult to lose the nose piece.

The hard case also has 2 spare spots for extra lenses, sadly not included in my set.

There is a whole lot of marketing gumph written about how the new lenses repel water and dust. Well, I thought it was all just hype, until I rode with the glasses. In two weeks I am yet to get even a spot on the lens while riding! I am actually not sure how this is possible. I have even raced with these and I had crystal clear vision the whole way, through some extremely dusty winter conditions.

The frames are light and can almost not be felt on the face. This, coupled with the fact that the lenses wrap all around providing totally un-obscured vision means that you hardly know that you are wearing glasses at all. When you ride a bike, you sometimes feel like you are looking straight into the top frame of the glasses; this is not the case with the Radars. Because they are designed for riding they seem to have been corrected for this.

I also think it is this feature that has helped my perpetual neck/shoulder pain, as I am not constantly lifting my head to avoid looking into the frame of the glasses.

Possibly the greatest feature and the biggest improvement on the M-Frames and Racing Jackets is the glasses fold. This allows you to transport them easily without fear of them breaking.

I truly love these glasses. I am not only wearing them for riding but for everyday use too. The only problem is, that I need another pair…
