Mountain Bike Tyre Reviews

by "The Average Guy"
Maxxis Larsen TT and Mimo
4 Jan 2006

I seem to have gotten on to the Larssen TT bandwagon a little late. I only
rode them for the first time in December.

I have been a Schwable Racing Ralph devotee for about 2 years. And yes, I
still think that it is the best all round tyre available! But at a cost!

I think that the Larssens are superb when you consider them from a value for
money perspective. But not only that, they are very good performers. The
front can be a bit washy at times, but they are fast and grip very well on
loose stuff on the back.

I was so impressed I went and got myself the Larssen Mimos. These are very
slightly different from the standard TT they have a slightly more rounded
pattern and seem to have far more grip on the sides, no more washyness! And
they don't break the bank. They are light. (Same as Racing Ralphs) and they
seem to clear mud a bit better that the TTs. I heard that someone at Sabie
Experience actually cut off all the little knobs (with a nail clipper) in
between the big ones for the last muddy stage and they worked very well!

Also look out for the new Maxxis CrossMarks I am told that they should be
hitting the stores soon. Apparently a very good all round tyre!
