The Ibis mojo could
arguably be the ultimate mountain bike ever made. It
has the looks to hang in the Louvre Museum never mind the
mtb hall of fame, the weight to make a 5.5" trail
bike rider cringe, the simplicity and ease of
maintenance for a dummy to service and it is full
monocoque carbon. Looking at the MTBR reviews, it
get an unbelievable 5 out of 5. The biggest weakness
is that when you ride it the paint can get chipped.
This little piece of mountain bike gold will be
available in SA from August 2007.

Ibis Bicycles
Founded in 1981 Ibis set
out to make the most innovative fun bike in the
industry. Twenty years later they were doing that.
After selling the business in 2000 the new owners
didn't make it work and Ibis went down. Original
founder Steve Nicol then re-started the company with
industry veteran Hans Heim who was responsible for
putting brands like Santa Cruz, and Bontrager on the
map. Now a group of four steer the company on what
seems to be a very exiting path.
Ibis Mojo
Everybody
seems to love this bike. The
MTB press around the world lapped it up and
raved about it as they did bike vs bike shoot outs
and the Mojo came up tops hammering the competition.
MBUK called it "The new benchmark trail bike" and
when it was showcased at the Vegas bike show last
year it was the show stopper. So why is it so good?
It is probably because
the philosophy behind designing and building the
bike was sound. According IBIS, "Our goal with
the latest edition of the Ibis Mojo was to use the
best in technologically advanced design,
engineering, materials and construction to bring you
(and us!) an elegant and efficient ride suitable for
a wide variety of terrain and conditions."
All round this company is pretty impressive and you
get that feeling from their website, which is very
engaging and informative. Not just an electronic
brochure of bike specs and tech mumbo jumbo. In fact
it is so cool that you could spend way too much time
there, it fits in nicely with their Ride More, Work
Less moto. Chuck Spew is the "not a blog" hosted by
owner and creator of IBIS Steve Nicol. Its an
antiblog infrequently updated and full of useless
information so rush over there now -
